Why I want to be the light at Insight Global

Our purpose is to develop our people personally, professionally, and financially so they can be the light to the world around them.”
— Bert Bean, CEO, Insight Global

Insight Global is looking for a creative writer who is passionate about audio storytelling. That alone would be enough to interest me. But after reading about their purpose and mission, I was so impressed that I wrote a poem about their five values. You know. Like you do.

If you’re an Insight Glober (Insight Globetrotter? Insight Globefish?) and you dig this, I wouldn’t hate you if you shared this with the right people and told them that my application is in their inbox. I put my résumé here and a sampling of my work down below.

Cheers,

Cliff

Be the light

What does it mean to be the light?

It means we’ll reflect the light of every soul whose path we cross.

Because we believe everyone matters.

It means that you’ll share your light when mine doesn’t burn so brightly.

And I’ll do the same for you. Because we take care of each other.

It means we know when to take the spotlight and when to focus it on someone else. Because we know leadership should be here to serve.

It means we will shine as brightly as we can, even when no one is looking.

Because we value high character and hard work above all else.

It means we’ll never hide the source of that light that reveals our genuine selves. Because we should always know where we stand.

We are called to be the light.

This is the precious dream of who we should be and what we should live by.

You are my light. I am yours.

And it is in the light that we will always find each other.

What being the light means to me

I believe with all my heart that there is no such thing as a boring topic. If an industry or a product appears mundane, it’s only because we haven’t found its story.

I strive to bring this spirit to every piece of work that crosses my desk. Airport procedures? Turn them into a country-western music video. Financial education workshops? Turn them into a movie trailer. The head of HR jokingly puts you in charge of the company while the leadership team is out? Take her up on it and foment a (not-so-hostile) takeover that sparks delight across the whole company.

So, if your clients happen to want to promote topics that are (ahem) less-than-scintillating, I will do everything in my power to scintillate the hell out of them.

    Johhny Cash Meets Airport Procedures

Truckee Tahoe Airport wanted some best practices content about mountain flying. So we created a country-western music video. You know. Like you do. (That’s me on vocals!)

An Action Movie Trailer for MetLife(?)

To promote MetLife’s financial education workshops, we created an action movie trailer.

  • So, You Stole the Vice Principal's Car

For funsies, I wrote and produced a short comedy play that answered the question, “What if OnStar met Grand Theft Auto?”

The story of how I directed a not-so-hostile takeover of The Garrigan Lyman Group digital agency with just a loud tie, a drawer full of McDonald’s dipping sauces, and a dream.
