“We live in a polarized world” is perhaps the biggest understatement of our time. The people at Novilify hope for something different. They envisioned a world where people would remember our common decency before they vilified someone. I wrote the video script below to help them tell that story.

There is more to us than bone, sinew, and flesh.
We are more than our skin or our hair, more than the shape of our faces, our ears, our hips.
We are more than a single thought or ideology.
Every act of kindness or integrity, every dream, every flaw, every instance of humility or love—each of those things adds a dimension and makes us who we are.
But in a polarized world, it only takes a single negative sentence or dismissive act to reduce a person to a single element.
Too dark. Too light. Too left. Too right. Too pretty. Too ugly. Too rich. Too poor.
And the more and more and more we reduce each other, the more we diminish ourselves.
Until there’s nothing left but the barking and sniping.
But you can help reverse the tide.
If you feel a vile thought bubbling up to your lips, pause, reflect, and retry.
Remember: there’s a real three-dimensional person at the other end of your words.
A person who is more than bone, sinew, and flesh.
We can’t get to love when we’re vilifying each other.
NoVilify. Pause. Reflect. Retry. There is a better way.
